Dragon Anywhere is only available on devices that have Google play or iTunes store. I am really happy for what I can do with Dragon anywhere on a chromebook, it is too bad that Dragon anywhere cannot be used on personal computers. The other fact that I like is that I don't need to carry headsets, microphones or digital recorders when I am using the chromebook with Dragon Anywhere. The chromebook has been the easiest solution, the battery on the chromebook lasts several hours so I do not need to carry a charger with me as I needed to do with a laptop, the chromebooks are relatively lightweight so I don't get too tired carry a heavy laptop, and the booting time of the chromebook is very fast. Before discovering that I could use Dragon anywhere on my chromebook, I was reluctant to carry a laptop with a microphone from room to room to do my daily medical progress notes. I have found the microphone built in on my Acer cromebook R 13 really good for sound transcription which facilitates portability and mobility. My chromebook loads very quickly and the Dragon app is ready to be used by the click of a button. This makes Dragon anywhere very accurate, as a matter fact, I prefer to use Dragon anywhere on a chromebook than on my desktop PC or laptop, because it is so simple to use. I have dragon anywhere synchronized with my voice files that I use on my Dragon professional 15 installed on my PC, it has transferred my user profile with all my voice commands and my words and phrases that I have trained over the past 12 months. It gives me excellent accuracy, I think the fact that I have been using Dragon on my PC for over a year makes a big difference. Only you can answer the question as to whether or not Dragon Anywhere is worth the additional price or if you would be better off with a real computer that can do a few hundred other things.Ĭhange "No" to "Know" w/ KnowBrainer 2022 We typically resort to Siri because it's simpler and we only use it for web searches. This version of Dragon adds network support but even though Nuance gives us a complimentary copy of this utility and we have a specialized extensive personal vocabulary, we simply don't use Dragon Anywhere Group. We use DPG 15.1 which includes the option to purchase a higher functioning more expensive version called Dragon Anywhere Group. Obviously this wouldn't be ideal for a quick e-mail. We have customers who can justify the cost of Dragon Anywhere because they spend a lot of time on their cell phone but when we need to be mobile, we take our notes on a digital recorder and translate them later. Previous versions of Dragon require real computer power but Dragon 15 changes everything and will let you get by with less RAM, speed etc. We are not saying you shouldn't use this utility but rather pointing out that after paying for Dragon Anywhere for about a year, you probably could have purchased an equivalent notebook computer and use your existing version of Dragon (on up to 5 computers). These utilities are not quite as accurate but free while Dragon Anywhere is typically $15 per month so it's something to factor into your expenses. include their own speech recognition engines which are free. However, this is nowhere near as functional as a real Dragon speech recognition utility.ģ. Trying to select words with a touchscreen are less than desirable. For example if we dictate “no-brainer” in Siri or Google we get “no-brainer” but we get “KnowBrainer” in Dragon Anywhere. The 1st advantage is the ability to utilize your vocabulary from your real computer assuming you have added specialized vocabulary. Dragon Anywhere includes 2 advantages over other speech recognition utilities. We think of the Google Chrome as more of an updated Commodore 64. Also keep in mind that the Chromebook is not what we would refer to as a real computer and you're not going to have anywhere near the functionality, from a computer point of view or speech point of view. We are not certain if a Chromebook even supports Dragon Anywhere but you cannot obtain Dragon Anywhere unless you own a Dragon 14 or 15 license. My radio announcer voice falls between 97% and 98% (past life).Ģ. so your results may be decent but probably fall a little short of 99%. Keep in mind that you are using the microphone and sound system that is included in your iPad, iPhone, Google Chrome etc. Kind of like a congressman claiming to tell the truth “up to 99% of the time” (but not guaranteed). We believe that Nuance is only claiming “up to 99% accuracy” which covers their claim. The following is only our opinion and should probably be taken with a grain of salt:ġ.
